FINALLY.~
My final project created for CSSSA/InnerSpark 2007. It's not happy.

Took me two nights of no sleep at all and two days of working on it off and on. But I think the music really makes it. My composer is an awesome guy. AND THAT IS A TAPE MEASURER, NOT INTESTINES. D: IT'S SYMBOLISM THAT EVERYTHING IS SHADES OF GREY BUT ANYTHING THAT SHE CONSIDERS IMPORTANT--food, measurements, and tears--IS RED. SYMBOLISM!!!

I'm hesitant about showing this, especially to people who know me in real life. But I talked to one of my teachers, and he said that if I start drawing for other people now ((as in drawing things I think others would like and others would find acceptable)), then I would never stop. And I realised that I wanted to tell this story. So I did. And I couldn't be happier.

And now, off to class!

Wow. You have gotten so much better.

Not that you weren't good before. Now... well, now you're awesome! That was amazing, really. The animation, the music, the story... it was all wonderful. Everything really fit together and flowed.

... how does one mistake a tape measure for intestines? And who was dumb enough to not get the symbolism? XD Or maybe I'm too smart. But it was really great how you used the colour in this.

I may be sitting down, but know I'd be giving you a standing ovation if I weren't typing. Hold on... *stands up and claps* Mad props to my animator friend, who rocks harder than anyone else I know :D Love and miss you! You have to come meet your new nephew, you know. His name is Rowdy, btw. :)

Later, chica! Call or text me if you wanna do somethin' this weekend ♥~

I waited the customary 509809382 minutes for it to buffer that my crappy internet connection demands, so feel loved!

In response - that is beautiful. The music is gorgeous and the two fit together so well.

How do you do animation? I am so confused.

I feel loved! I love you, Jenni!

Thank you! I really think it would be nothing without the music. So many people overlook that. Thank you for noticing!

Well, um, it's basically just a series of moving pictures. It took me about 400 drawings, 80 discarded frames, and a few pages of concept art--not so much concept was needed because there was only one character. It's a LOT of re-drawing with minute changes, but fortunately I didn't have to draw the changes so minute, and I didn't have to draw every frame. A lot was looped--while she was drinking, for example, and the crunches.

Being an animator is a job that you have to love doing in order to do it. It's a lot of work, a lot of overtime, hardly any pay, ruins your eyes and posture, and months of work can be discarded in two seconds if the client doesn't like it. You get hardly any recognition for what you do. But if you love doing it? Then none of those things matter. Animators are very passionate about our work. You won't find a group of people more passionate about their work, which we have to be, because no one else is going to be so. The feeling I have when I talk or think about animation can only be described as a patriotic feeling. I love what I do and I am prepared to accept all the cons that come with it.

Sorry. I ramble when asked about animation. Did I answer your question?

(I'm sorry, I simply must ask - what is your avatar from?! If it's what I think, then...oh...my...god.)

Yeah, that did answer my question! Thankyou very much for the lengthy ramble on my behalf. =D

400 drawings...O.o. I always wondered...because it is inconceivable to me to do that much work...XD But, wow. Congratulations. If you really love it...I guess you're right. =D

Hey there!

I'm impressed! That was touching... really sad, and oddly uplifting. Thank you for sharing it with us despite being hesitant about it; and true enough, your teacher is right; draw what you want for yourself, and as a result, when you share that with other people it has a level of intensity and sincereness that is lacking in things done to cater for fans. You conveyed much in a short amount of time and that was brilliant.

Also, I'm hoping to apply for Innerspark this year... do you mind if I ask you a few questions about it?

Thanks in advance, good luck with your endeavors and keep drawing!

Thank you! I really was trying to get across a message, and though it was really nerve-wracking to see mine as almost the only serious animation amongst a slew of funny, light ones, it was worth it in the end. I'm very proud of it. Thanks again. :D

Go ahead with your questions! I'll be happy to help however I can. :D Fire away!
